Statement on the withdrawal from the Irish Cardiac Society Conference The Society for Cardiological Science and Technology – Northern Ireland (SCST-NI) committee has discussed the requirements for the organisation of the cardiac physiologist day at the Irish Cardiac Society (ICS) conference at some length. Its takes a great deal of time and energy to organise the cardiac physiology component of the ICS conference. However, in recent years, there has been a steady decline in the numbers of cardiac physiologists from Northern Ireland (SCST-NI) in attendance, and the current working climate in Northern Ireland is not conducive to increasing attendance in the near future. Unfortunately, the funding requirements for the conference have recently increased to a point that is prohibitive for SCST-NI. Hence, it is with regret that I wish to inform the membership that SCST-NI is unable to support the organisation of the cardiac physiology day at the Irish Cardiac Society conferences in October 2010. Instead, it is our intention to extend the spring meeting, which is more accessible for our membership. |
